Meet Lori Goodland, M.Ed, CCC

Lori is an empathic and dedicated counselor who is passionate about supporting individuals facing challenges related to panic attacks, parenting issues, and neurodiversity, anxiety, and depression. With a deep understanding of the complexities of mental health and neurodevelopmental differences, Lori provides personalized and evidence-based therapy to help her clients navigate life’s challenges and achieve personal growth. With more than 15 years of experience in the field, Lori brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her practice, empowering clients to overcome obstacles and live fulfilling lives. Lori’s genuine and deep desire to help others makes her a trusted ally in your journey towards healing and personal growth.

Lori holds a Bachelor’s degree in Primary and Elementary Education, a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, and a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Memorial University of Newfoundland. She is committed to keeping up with the latest research and therapeutic approaches in the field. Lori has attended numerous professional development training and parenting courses including, Parenting neurodiverse children, specifically Autism Spectrum and ADHD, Shanker Self Reg ® and PEERS ®. Shanker Self-Reg ® is a powerful method for understanding stress and managing one’s flow of energy. It is a practical paradigm through which parents and teachers can better understand their children’s stress, and enhance their own self-regulation. Lori is a Certified PEERS Provider-UCLA. PEERS ® is a Program for the Education and Enrichment of Relational Skills. This program is used in over 150 countries around the globe and is world-renowned for providing evidence-based social skills programs to preschoolers, adolescents, and young adults who are interested in developing and maintaining close friendships and romantic relationships.

Lori works through a trauma informed, neuro-affirming lens, using a combination of therapies including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy. She integrates neuroscience and mindfulness techniques to address underlying issues, manage symptoms, and cultivate resilience in clients she works with. Lori offers a safe and empathetic space for clients to explore their concerns and develop effective coping strategies, and she takes a collaborative and strengths-based approach, empowering clients to harness their inner resources and make positive changes in their lives.

Lori understands the unique challenges faced by neurodiverse individuals, specifically Autism Spectrum, ADHD and Specific Learning Disabilities. She provides tailored support to meet their specific needs. Lori also offers support to parents who are challenged each day trying to navigate the complexities of raising neurodiverse children. She provides education, guidance, and practical strategies to promote understanding, communication, and positive relationships within the family.
